Summer Solstice

The longest day of the year was a beautiful one on Chappy. Unfortunately, I spent most of the day in my office, but when I arrived back on Chappy it felt like summer was in full swing. Mom, Dad, Timmy & Beau arrived yesterday and Dad put up the flag this morning. So here are a few pictures to ring in the summer. There is nothing I love more than driving down the driveway on Chappy on a sunny summer evening. It's a bit like unwrapping a present. First you see the golden light peaking through the trees and then the beautiful blue (or if your late enough pink) sky and finally water!

6.09.08

In honor of birthday week at the Filley/Gosser household, here are a few snaps from Oliver's birthday dinner. We all stuffed ourselves on delicious spaghetti with Rae's famous tomato sauce and Joanne's awesome meatballs, so Brad and Oliver took a quick break to make room for dessert. Oliver is sporting the mandatory birthday tiara along with the super cool new shoes he got from Rae.

6.1.08

Luckily we didn't get all the storms in the forecast this past weekend and Sunday was another lovely day with clear skies. I got back to Chappy late in the afternoon to find Woody and Joanne in the garden working on this week's post! Here are some of the beautiful blooms they captured.

5.23.08

Since I'm lucky enough to be spending most of the summer on Chappy this year I thought it would be a fun project to document Grannie's beautiful garden. Then I remembered how Grannie and Grandpa tracked the location of the sunsets throughout the summer and thought that I would do the same in pictures. This got me thinking of all the wonderful things that I love about Chappy and so I decided that I (hopefully with the help of others) would document all things Chappy throughout the summer months and into the fall. So we begin with a beautiful Thursday afternoon down on the dock.

I went out onto the back deck to get a snap of the sunset...

...and it started to rain, so I took a pic through the skylight.
